It's simple, all I want is representation. GWB was a very average President put in extraordinary circumstances all while fighting off angry democrats who are still bitter about the 2000 election. Now they found their media suave poster child for socialism and have successfully painted McCain as a bitter ole man. I shutter to think what will happen if McCain does win and how the media will immediately turn their cameras on 95% of the black voters who voted for Obama and start screaming race wars. Yet if Obama wins I fear even more that the socialist views and agenda will create havoc in my life. I am college educated, work 45-60 hours a week, make pretty good money but it is spread thin since my wife stopped working to stay at home with the kids. What will happen if the economy gets worse and prices for goods continue to go up and my job is cut? This is my primary fear that after years of hard work I could be let go and in today's market could lose my house that I have lived in and paid for over the last 5 years could be taken within months. I have savings, no car notes and a little bit of a credit card but even though my bills are very manageable today, the moment the money stops flowing I could be in trouble quick.
This is why I am scared of the Obama plan. Obama is trying to vilify the people that make lots of money (who actually employee folks like me). Not every rich person is a greedy SOB and not every poor person is a victim. Politicians are pinning class against each other (which many the Democrats are the only one doing this). In the end, we are all Americans but it is the view of what being American means. To me being American means that I am free to succeed and my moral make up drives me to help others. It seems to me that a socialist driven Obama ticket will force the top 5-10% of the wage earners in America to subsidies a way of life for 40% of the non tax paying public. To me, this is a choice you make, if you chose that making money and living in a mansion is not important then that is 100% fine. But having an on and off job, living in public housing, not having health insurance for your family yet driving around in a escalade is poor judgment. Irresponsibly transcends all race and classes but it seems as though it is becoming more acceptable to forgo your responsibilities as an American because this mentality is becoming a larger voting block and politicians are taking advantage of it.
All I can say is no mater who wins, there will be a large popilation of Americans that still deserve representation. No mater of who win, there are valid views and concerns but there has to be a justified understanding how a new direction may cause others more issues than not. And when I say justified I mean that if a group of people are affected but for the betterment of the nation as a whole, I want to know what the definition of "betterment" is. Right now Obama is favoring a tax plan that will give people who do not pay taxes at the end of the year a tax credit. I pay thousands of dollars a year in income tax and thousands of dollars a year in sales tax. I want to pay my share but not at the entitlement of others.
